hI here I have a mollie fish that I brought that was black with silver spots. ive owned her for 2 weeks now when I woke up this morning it looks like a chunk has been took out of her but I have no fish in the tank that would do this as they are mollies and 3 guppys. some one has suggested she might have been caught on decorations or on the filter or white spot as I'm new to owning fish I don't know what's going on can any one help me please any advive givin will be greatful.

Guppies and Mollies are pretty peaceful fish, so I don't think a fish did that. It might be the decor that took a chunk from it. Most of the time, if the fish is healthy, they can grow their scales back, so it is just a matter of waiting.

She does look pretty beat up, do you know how to identify male guppies?
I have a male molly in with my guppies and my guppies beat him up a bit sometimes.

Perhaps the guppies started nipping at her.
Filter is another possibility.

Other members would recommend something called stressguard, this is just a small liquid concentration of aloe vera, it claims to help with stress and heal wounds.

A small salt bath in slightly warmer water may help too, since salt can relax a fish, help with breathing and sometimes lightly heal wounds as well, you just have to be careful.

More pictures would also help us figure out what to do for her.
Hope she feels better soon!

yes I know how to identify male and female guppys and mollies at the moment I have a ratio of 2 females 1 male so there is 6 fish in my 100liter fish tank.
I will try this safegeard as soon as impossible. it might just be my decoration. ill try get some better pics if I can cheers for your reply

Hi! Sorry to hear you are having problems.
To me, it doesn't look like someone bit her, but rather as though she has an infection that is eating away at her flesh. Columnaris comes to mind. Can you tell if it is a clean wound or does it look like stuff is growing there?
