Help Please, stand not level?

I have a 65 gallon tank that I bought with a wooden stand. Yesterday I started filling I up and noticed that it stilled moved back and forth on the floor at half full. I have ceramic concrete floor. When it was delivered by the pet shop they told me that wasn't a problem that the wood would settle to the floor. What should I do because at half full it was still moving if I but pressure on the front. I was thinking of putting shims or a half inch thick gym mat below the wooden stand to level it. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Door shims. There cheap and easy to work with. Just tap them in snug and trim with a utility knife.

Thanks I'm just wondering what if I buy plywood and lay it below the tank because if the problem is the floor I don't want the stand to mold to the floors shape what do you think?

I think the plywood would just bend to the shape of the floor. Laying down its not very structural. Most of the times when you buy it it isn't even flat. With a 65 gallon your talking close to 650 pounds.

Ok, what do you think about what the pet store guy told me how accurate is that? Cause it is rocking back and forth a bit it isn't a lot but I rather be safe than sorry

I would be worried once the stand deforms to fit the the floor what it would do to the tank as far as evenly supporting it. I have my 75 and 55 on concrete floors covered with carpet so I just shimed them. I have had 75 gallons on the floor once and I never want it to happen again.

Thank you,
you have been very helpful I kind of figured that the guy was not correct in what he said to me. Since its only the wooden stand to floor can I shI'm the stand without the tank on it how do you recommend I shI'm it ?

I would shI'm it half full at least .
Get a level or measure the water to top of tank as water will find its own level.
Tap them in as David said then score with razor knife and snap.
If you need more the one insert first thick end first and second with taper first ..

Its a good idea to use the plastic composite shims. Water won't affect them and they don't compress as much as wooden shims. Make sure all four corners of the tank rest firmly on the stand.

Well in his defence a typical wood floor would have more of a tendency to contour to the stand.

I will be buying those

True, but my floor is ceramic and concrete. I don't want my stand to contour to the uneven floor because I might move in the future.

Hey guys I shimmed the tank stand but I narrowed down the issue to one tile that was improperly installed. I'm not to happy about this I will be repositioning the tank
