10 Gallon Tank [Help!] necessity for my guppy treatment and what therapy?

Hello Guppy experts,
I have one 10 gallon tank with 4 male guppies (used to be 5 until few days ago) and over 40 red cherry shrimps. This tank has been cycled for around 1 and half years now.

It has power filter (Marina S10) with lots of BioMax (Fluval) and De-nitrate media (Seachem) in it. This power filter is with pre-filter sponge as well. There is another corner sponge filter (up to 15 gallon) in it. This tank is fully planted with 4 of Marimo moss balls, 1 of Christmas moss ball, 1 of Anubias attached to Java moss, and Hornwort. There are some hideouts and plastic plants as well. The heater is always set up as 78’C. I have been changing 25% water weekly (after adding Prime one day prior to changing date, usually I am adding StressZyme and QuickStart both on the date).

I have been feeding my guppies with some mixture/combination of Fancy Guppy (Hikari), Micro pellets (Hikari), TetraMin, and TetraFin Plus to the extent that will disappear within 2-3 minutes daily in the morning.

In fact, my RCS forms breeding colonies and they are proliferating now.
Previously (several months ago), before having RCS, I used to have 3 of panda corys in this tank along with my 4 guppies, but I removed them to my other 10 gallon tank from this tank since one of them showed either fungal or bacterial infection symptom. I could not figure out what disease it was exactly. One panda cory showed cotton looking stuff on the body and few days later it died. After first one showed symptom, then several weeks later another one showed similar one. It was not fast spreading at that time, but my panda cory got sick one by one. I tried my best to cure my panda cory in quarantine tank with kanaplex/furan 2 or salt or methylene blue at that time, but all the treatments eventually failed and I ended up to remove all the panda corys from this tank. None of my 4 guppies got affected. Few months later, I added 5 RCS in this tank, and now I have over 40 RCS, which I think it is a sign of good health for this tank.

One month ago, I added one additional guppy making 5 guppies with ~40 RCS. One week ago, one of my old buddy guppy suddenly died. He has been with me for around 1 year, but I did not notice any symptom. The most recently added one has not shown any symptom as well.

But, today my another old friend guppy who has been with me from the beginning (1 and half year) is suddenly starting to hide at the bottom in one area and other guppies are chasing him once in a while. His appearance looks normal (no popped eyes, no spots, no fin rots, but little bit of swollen abdomen?). But, he keeps hiding with blackened eyes and whenever he tried to swim up once in a while, other guppy is chasing him, which was not usual before. I am concerned with this old friend since I lost my favorite one without any symptom few days ago.

I did water test with API Freshwater master kit just now:
pH: 7.0 – 7.2 / Ammonia: 0 / Nitrite: 0 / Nitrate: ~10-20

Should I quarantine this guy and perform treatment? Then, what kind of treatment should I do? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Thank you very much for reading my somewhat complex history of this tank. Thanks a lot!

Looks kind of bloated. May throw off the way he sits and swims. I woukd try fasting for a few days before anything.

Thank you very much for your tip. How long should or can I fast them?
Since I have 4 of guppies and over 40 RCS, I am just wondering how long I can fast them. I fast this tank very rarely.

3-4 days should be fine. See if that bloat goes down at least. Then maybe try feeding a pea or some daphnia if it hasn't gone down any.

Sure. I will do fast them for 3-4 days as you suggested. Thanks!

Thanks for your info. How can I know whether my guppy got parasite? And how can I treat if it is the case?

Do you think it can be parasite if there is no abnormal appearance except for little bit of bloat and blackened eyes most of the time? He is mostly staying at the bottom corner but once in a while trying to swimming up.

If I purchase and use anti-parasitic drug in quarantine tank, could you please tell me it will not harm him in case that it was not parasite?

Sorry for so many questions and thank you for your kind feedback in advance. I don't wanna lose my old buddy... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Is it possibly just old age (for a guppy)? I'd consider 1.5 yrs on the old side for a guppy. Sounds kind of like how my older guppies have behaved at the end.

Thank you for your comment, HupGupp. It could be due to age. It is said that guppies live about 1 to 3 years in captivity (pets.thenest.com) while some people can make it to five years. It sounds reasonable since this guy is the oldest and tail fin has grown the most among others. I am just hoping that this is not the case for him and he recovers soon by fasting... Thanks for your feedback!

I wouldn’t do the medicin but I’d buy it just in case. By the time u start to see the parasite your fish needs medicine ASAP. But I’d just fast them and see what happens. Guppy’s are not the hardiest fish anymore.

Thank you again. Will do so. With fasting first day he is still mostly at the bottom corner.. will see how it goes. Thanks!
