Help! My Guppies Are Nipping Each other

I have a guppy community tank with 6 guppies in total. Two females and 4 males, I've noticed that they are all chasing eachother and nipping at each others tail fins, and I always thought that guppies were supposed to be peaceful. It's not just the males to females either as if Breeding behavior. There in a large tank and by themselves... what can I do?

It's not a good idea to keep less females than males. The males will compete over the females. I usually keep my male guppies in a ratio of 3 females/1 male. If a guppy is pregnant or just gave birth, separate the female.

Really? I've always been told to keep more males to females 2:1

No, it's usually a 3:1 f:m

What size is the tank?
Are there plants/decor that can provide hiding spots?
What are you planning to do with the fry?
Are they definitely nipping? Any damage being caused?

Guppies are very playful, sometimes can be aggressive, usually not. Aggression usually shows in tanks that are too small with not enough hiding spaces... maybe return the females and get two more males?

Definitely 3f:1m ratio, as I told my friend the other day. Imagine having 2 husbands chasing you around the house. Lol

It isn't the females that are nipping or being nipped, just the males. Though I haven't noticed a LOT of damage, in fact there might not be any at all, but I've just noticed them chasing eachother. I have dwarf hair grass and 2 decorations that kinda leave some room where I've seen them hideout

Ok lol oops

DHG doesn't provide much cover... especially if you don't have pressurized co2 it will soon die off

If it's just chasing mine do it all day long...

What size is the tank? I would add a few more plants in there (especially since you already have great lighting for the DHG)... and maybe some more decor as well (wood, stone caves, etc)

Can you post a picture? I can help you with broken lines of sight better that way...

Plants, especially floating plants can distract them somewhat from the 24 hour frat party.
You need more females or fewer males too.
