Help! My Glass Catfish Has A Growth

15444667755637095519803203114115.jpg My glass catfish is missing it's tail fin and has a white growth there. I really want to help him and especially avoid this on my others. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

It’s not a growth but rather an infection. If it looks fuzzy then it’s likely fungal. Usually once fin infections progress into the body there’s no going back.

You can quarantine and try using fungal meds but I think it’s too late for this one. Even if the infection clears up the tail will not return to how it was.

Yes it looks fuzzy and has gotten worse today, progressing toward his body. Do you think he's a lost cause? Will he be a danger to my others? I hate to give up on him, but if there's no hope or a risk of spreading I may have to let the poor guy go.

That's a pretty fast progression. There is a possibility of it spreading so it may be better to euthanize him.

I quarantined him and gave him some meds last night, he passed within an hour ☹ Thank you so much for all of your help and advice!
