Help! My Clown Pleco...

  • #1
I woke up this morning to find my clown pleco on the bottom of my tank not moving. Usually, he is on the side of the tank or in a corner somewhere. I thought he already had passed but when I used the net he moved over. I have had him about a week and up until this morning, everything has been fine.
It is a newer tank, but I constantly check the levels and they're fine. Every other day I do between a 25-50% water change. It is a 20-gallon tank, where there are 6 zebra danios in the tank as well. The only thing I have noted is that the danios eat his sinking pellet. I added bloodworms to their diet and that seemed to stop that issue. However, I have not seen him take any interest in his food. I don't know if this is the issue or something else.

Is it wobbling around? It might have Swim Bladder syndrome, or some assortment of those words. Is it rubbing it's skin on the material, or just staying close. If you can tell us these things, (extra/more is always better,) we can see if it is an infection, sickness, etc, and tell you what to do.

If the danios are eating its food then what I do is wait till the lights are off to feed him that way the danios don’t get to it first.

Clown Plecos are wood-eating plecos. This is one species where you do not want to feed too much protein.

Parameters appear fine.
