Help, my Betta jumped!

Hello everyone, I am very panicked right now and in need of some desperate help.

My little betta boy has been stressed lately so I went to the store today to get some more silk plants and decorations to fill up some of the empty space in his tank. I got really excited about it, so I spent a good hunk of time taking everything out during a water change, and giving everything a good cleaning in the old tank water. I had to take hime out for this because with all the rearranging and cleaning, I felt it would be too stressful to keep him in.

When I was done, I went to get him out of his container. BUT HE WASN’T THERE! After looking around the surrounding area for a bit, I noticed him hop towards me in the corner of my eye. He was still wet and breathing, so I instantly picked him up and plopped him in the tank. He swam to the bottom and stuck his nose on the ground for a bit, then moved and sat facing upward. I left for a minute and came back again, only to have startled him! He jumped around a bit then became still again.

Currently he is in my room with all of the lights off and the door shut.

Sadly I have no medications on hand, but I do have prime and Indian almond leaves. Could either of these help?!

What should I do?! I haven’t been back in my room yet for about 15-20ish minutes... how can I make this experience any more bearable?!

Help!

Thank you so much for reading this! And if you reply, thank you soo much again!!

I just checked on him again, and he is lying motionless at the back of his tank. His fins are clamped.

I feel so helpless but I want to aid is his recovery! Please help me!!

Thank you

for now I think it would be best to put like a blanket or towel over the tank so you won't scare him by turning on the light or walking by. hes probably going to be a bit nervous for a little while. check on him every few hours to see if hes doing ok.

adding some almond leaves may help but they won't likely change anything right away. I think hes likely scared by the jump and a little freaked out at things being rearranged. he should be ok as long as you keep an eye on him

Also I wouldn’t interact with the tank much for maybe a few days. As for the same reasons stated above (to reduce stress on him). As soon as he feels safe he will heal much faster.

Ok! Should I leave the sheet over the tank for the next few days ? Also, should I feed him for the next few days either?

If the lights are on in the room where the tank is keep it covered until you turn the room lights off for the night. Go ahead and uncover it after you turn them off. Doing it this way will allow him to spend a quiet night but the light will gradually get brighter in the morning. He has been through a lot in a very short period of time. Quite time should be all he needs right now.

He should be calmed down by now. Turn it on and check on him.

Ok thank you! His light has been off, but I have been checking on him quite a bit. He seems ok, just wanted to know if hes ok enough for the light. So thank u so much for letting me know!

Yes, thank you! I have given him 2 pellets already, and he happily ate them. And I will turn on the light! Thanks so much again!

You ae so very welcome. It usually doesn't take them long to get over something like this. It is good that you found him quickly and good that you immediately put him back in his home. I feel sure there will be no lasting problems with him.
