Help! My Betta Has Been Constipated For Months

I have to be honest, I've been really upset with the same reply over and over again when I ask what I'm doing wrong with my betta. I feed him about 4 pellets (soaked) twice a day and fast on thursdays. He no longer gets blood worms because he had problems digesting them and NOTHING I mean NOTHING has worked to get rid of his constipation. Its been MONTHS and is only expanding. I am at a total loss. He is less mobile and it worries me more every day. I've put epsom salt (pure, natural, unscented) in his water by the recommended dose, and do water changes frequently as well as give him blanched, peeled peas. . I just don't understand it. I even fasted his for 3 days a couple times. nothing changed. NOT DROPSY, SCALES ARE FINE. Any new suggestions??

*peas, check. doesn't work for him.
*fasting. check. doesn't work for him.
*epsom salt, check. doesn't work for him.
*soaking pellets, check. doesn't matter!
*tried an antibiotic as well (tx for 5 days every other day)
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

DESCRIPTION:
belly is rounded and bloated only to his underside.
redness starting to spread near rectal opening.
starting to only float near objects and the bottom of tank.

correction, I feed him total 4 pellets a day. not four pellets twice a day.

I would feed him daphnia.
It clears out the system better than peas.

Also, only do Epsom salt dips.
Do not put it in the tank. It can stress the fish. I would do a dip for 10 minutes with the recommended dose and watch the fish like a hawk. If there is any sign of stress, move the fish to a revive tank which should be filter with tank water. It wpcan be small but it is to revive the fish. Then, put the fish back into the tank. Do it daily.

sorry, phones acting up. However, I just took another look this morning at the betta from above. It looks like I might be wrong about the scales. A week ago (before I left on vacation) his scales were perfectly fine. Now they appear to be slightly opened up (pine cone effect). This is really concerning. I know nothing about dropsy if this is even the case. Also, he is swimming just fine.

I would feed him daphnia.

thank you for your reply. I will try this. I can get out/clean my old fish bowl for this I assume and then put him back into his normal tank right after? His tank is heated and has a very good filter on all the time.

I also just read somewhere that you need to somehow acclimate the betta slowly to going back to the tank after the magnesium/epsom treatment... how would that even be done? change out water slowly? hm..

I am about to upload a couple of pictures I just took of my betta. I will be posting them in another thread about Euthenasia... I want other members to list their opinions and/or their own experiences with this. Did it work, what did you do, so on so fourth..

I'm having a similar problem with my betta, it's been 3 weeks and I've tried all the things you have. I also tried feeding her daphnia (though it was freeze dried, I don't have many other options, but I hear it can also cause constipation?) At this point I'm at a loss, and she looks like she's about to pop. Let me know if you find anything that works? Hope your betta gets better
