One of my female bettas, Anathema Ruby, got stuck in the hole at the end of a small clay pot I had in my tank for my cichlids. My tank is currently undergoing velvet treatment so I don't know exactly how long she was in there. When I found her, she was halfway through the hole and wriggling to escape. My other females were attacking her and shredded her fins. I tried to very gently pull her out, then pushed her backside through.
She now has huge wounds on her dorsal area and belly, and her fins are absolutely wrecked from her tankmates.
I have pictures
