HELP!!! My angelfish got stuck against the pole of the filter!!

My angelfish got sucked and stuck against the pole of the filter! I have a filter that makes a waterfall that rests on the lip of the tank. It is a 46 Gallon. I left the room for 15-20 minutes and came back where I saw the angelfish bent and wrapped around the filter, I quickly shut the filter off and the angelfish fell to the floor of the tank but I can still see him breathing. his body is bent as if the spine was bent. what do I do!?!?

 

What a horror story... Angelfish should be more than strong enough to evade filter suction. There is not much you can do...Is she swimming at all?.

 

Not at all, honestly looks like it broke the poor fishes spine and it can't move. not moving any fins but gills are moving.

 

Yeah there's little you can do, I would just add stress zyme if you have it or something similar, then watch it and if it dies remove it immediately. :-[ That's really sad.

 

.....I hate to say it but if its not swimming at all... he will be dead by the morning... If you want to ease his stress...id advise euthanasia at this juncture.... Wait to see what other people say however....

 

It made me realize I might need to watch that, I thought Angels could withs
tand that.

 

Its a baby angel, no bigger than half a pinkI finger. So just wait and keep an eye on it for tonight?

 

They can... I'm not sure what happened to his.. When fish get stuck on filters it usually means they are weak from a bad environment.

Sorry, happens to the best of our fish... my cory stuck between a rock and the aquarium glass luckily for him I was there and saved him before he panicked and hurt himself...

 

Reminds me of what happened to me so sorry for your loss. But of coursewe learn from our mistake
