Help Me Cheer Up?

I can't stop crying. I got injured at work cuz they didn't listen to me, was forced to continue working to the point I can't use my hand anymore. It's been a week and it's still really messed up.

They made me jump through all these hoops all while not doing anything for me. I'm out a weeks 's paycheck cuz they refused to let me work instead if just putting me somewhere I could do.

Went back to the drs today .It's not broken but he wrote me another Dr note saying I can't return to work until further notice. All I wanted was a new light duty note cuz work decided to ignore the forms I just gave them saying light duty until the Dr says so and instead use the original note that they said wasn't good enough that said light duty for a week.

Last week and this week's paychecks were supposed to be my birthday money checks. I'm already kinda struggling with not having enough money to support myself, and like..

Now I can't buy what I had planned. I have bills my insurance won't cover but I'm not approved for workers comp cuz I still haven't gotten sent the paperwork so idk how those are getting paid cuz I can't afford to pay them.

I know what needs to be done but my job needs to do it and won't. It's out of my hands but I'm the one being punished for it.

I can't stop crying cuz I just want this to stop. All they have to do is listen to me. Why is that so hard?

Can anyone help me feel better? Idk what to do right now and I just need help calming down .o.

I'm sorry I'm bugging you guys about this, I know this isn't really the place for it xP

I'm so sorry, that's terrible. I can't offer much advice, because I wouldn't know what to do myself in that situation.
I can say this; you are an amazing person. Truly amazing. You do so much for the people and animals around you, much much more than the average person. Think of how many lives you helped with your betta rescue, and it was truly inspiring so you likely helped more than you know.
You're a good person. This is a setback, yes, but you can get through it.

I think you need to call your work comp adjuster about your claim. I don't know how Connecticut claims work but typically when one is off work you should be getting something called Temporary Total Disability (TTD). If your company can't provide the light duty you would still qualify for partial disability benefits as well, what we call on our end (TPD).

Does your claim have to be accepted for your to earn TTD/TPD benefits?

Sometimes when claimant's feel they are being wronged by the system I would advise them that they have the right to obtain and attorney or at least consult one when a claimant thinks they are being screwed. So I would advise that you seek legal and ask them about your situation.

Also if you want you can call the ombudsmans office. You can call the information number to speak to the WCC regarding your case and somebody at the state can help clear things up if things are confusion, if you don't want to seek legal advice. 1-800-223-9675

FYI, I'm a Workers Comp adjuster.

Thank you, that means a lot. I really don't think I did that much by rescuing them but I'm happy you think so.

I know I'll get through it just ugh. I was planning on upgrading my tanks and doing things for my pond. I guess I'll just have to wait a bit more xP

I could always save up a larger amount and do more upgrades all at once to make up for it I guess.

I'm honestly not sure? Work isn't giving me much info and no one I know knows much more other than state sends the paperwork after work reports it (I don't think they did even though they said they did last week)

I'm on "light duty" now but they want me to get off it already even though I've only been back to work 4 days :I (17 hours total) like they see I can't use my hand at all and it's crazy swollen but they don't care.

I honestly want to at this point but I can't afford it and it wouldn't be worth it unfortunately.

Omg thank you for the number and website!

That is a really helpful post!

I'm not American, so I can't comment on the system, but if your work ignored written medical advice from your doctor, surely you have grounds for a complaint. Does your work have a grievance/complaints policy?

I'm guessing you aren't in a union, is it possible to join one? I know my union has a legal team and provides legal advice to members.

They said they do but I don't know anything about it. I actually am in a union but my union is just as bad sadly. I don't like going to them cuz I have twice and both times they were very rude to me and didn't help. Kinda just made it worse honestly

What? That's crazy! The union is meant to protect you in just such situations. I am really sorry to hear that. Is it possible to go through another person in the union, e.g. if the problem is with your work place rep, going through the branch chair? If the union has a website, I'd look for other contact details. You pay your dues, you have every right to be supported.

My union rep is okay I guess? At least at first. Just he gets told no to basically everything. And then things go south. I think it's a problem with the union itself, not so much him. Though he does say rude things at times. Most of the rude stuff comes from above him

Call the state and ask them who the insurance carrier is and the contact for that carrier. If the insured (the company you are working for) is being mute you need to find out who is the carrier, and like mentioned call the state to see who it is. From my end I always try to keep all parties on the same page. It can be tough when parties are mute.

Okay thanks. Gonna try to deal with this tomorrow. Yeah xP I kept them informed with everything I did and why they were waiting on me, they actually got mad I was doing that for some reason. Idk xP but do unto others is a thing I live by so!

I'd call an attorney. You were injured at work after telling them you were being pushed beyond your limits. That sounds like a case. There are plenty of firms out there that won't charge you for legal fees unless you win a settlement. Anyway, they should be able to tell you if you have a decent chance. It might be worth checking out

Better. More calm but still a bit frustrated. Also I was bad and bought the upgrade stuff. I saved a good chunk of money and cut my budget in half. But then I noticed the filter I wanted to get to v replace my broken one was almost half off and so were the rest of that brand. And my best friend approved upgrading 6 filters to them so xD I'm now $15 short my original budget butt I got more stuff than I thought I would.

So kinda bad but also not really? Cuz at least I didn't go over what I originally wanted to spend and I got more which is cool

Here’s an update on the girls I got from you.
They are fitting in well with my other bettas. Even with their swim bladder problems, they are still actively competing at feeding times.

They all love to rest in small cages and plants when it’s not feeding time and swim around a lot just before nightly feeding.
