    Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? 1 week
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? 1 week
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms?

So its summer again so the water is warmer so the Male goldfish try to spawn with the female, but 2 males they are rough with the female, she lost most of her dorsal fin and tail fin and lost scales. Last year she was roughed up but not this much. It's been worse this year.

Have you started any treatment for the illness?
Melafix and keeping water clean and Quarantine
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase?
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all?
She is lethargic, spits out food, swimming close to the surface

Explain your emergency situation in detail.
She's been not acting right, after the males tried to spawn with her. She produced fry successful before but I think this time she might have been roughed up too much. She's around 7 inches long, possibly longer. I would hate to lose her because the males beat her up.
She's been quarantined and she's doing a little better, but else should I add or do to speed up the healing and growth of her scales and fins other than Melafix and clean water?

Definitely keep her quarantined until she is healed. After you are finished with the Melafix and have removed it from the water you can add a little bit of aquarium salt and/or try a salt bath (be sure to look up instructions specific to goldfish). This should not be done while any other medications are being used. Hydrogen peroxide and Neosporin can be applied to the injured scales, but again I would not mix multiple treatments at one time.

like other fish, you should try to keep a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 male to female, or all males, or all females. what i did this spring was culled a bunch of male goldfish.

a 55g with 3 goldfish and a koi, is already overstocked. Petco is having their 50% off sale on their big tanks, 40B, 55G, and 75g
