Help Idea Young Newt/salamander

    Title pretty much says it all.. I was at my lfs looking for supplies and food when I found two small salamander/newts... they were being sold as snake food so I couldn't let them stay, fearing someone might actually buy them for their snake. I'll post a picture when I get home, but for the time being, I'll try and describe them. They smaller is about an inch including tail. They're a sandy brown with multiple black dots scattered around their bodies. They both also have red-ish orange external gills.

    Maybe they're mud salamanders? If you look up images of them most look red but some are more brown.

    I can't find any info on how to care for them specifically, but I imagine caring for them wouldn't be much different from the care of other salamander species. Here's a site with the basic info on how to care for salamanders in general:
