Hello guys, new here but not so new to fish. But I'm new to bigger tanks.

I'll be getting a 125 gallon fish tank this weekend and I really need help to pick out some filters. I don't want a Hob filter, only canisters. Theres so many options out there it gets really confusing. I've never had a tank this big. The tank will be housing discus fish and other peaceful community fish.

So far i've picked
Fluval FX6
Cascade 1500

Let me know of your opinions please!

Can you suggest TWO canister filters for a 125 gallon discus tank?

Thanks!

The fluval fx6 should be enough.

First off, congratulations I m jealous. I wish I had room for that size tank. That tank is around 7 foot long? Usually tanks over 100 gallons have sump filtration units. If your gonna go canister. I'd say at least 2 of them. You'd need around 900 GPH combined output. What's the flow rate on this filters.

My Father in Law ran two Fluval canisters on his Discus tank.

For a tank that size I too recommend a Sump. Sumps are easier to clean you can hide all your heaters and other equipment in the sump. Is the tank drilled for an overflow? If not you can have it or do it yourself of just get an overflow. You could get a 55 gallon tank as a sump.
