HI I’m super new to keeping fish and my poor Oranda is in a bad way. He has been staying mainly at the surface for some time and looking like he was finding it difficult to swim so I thought he might have a swim bladder problem. The other goldfish with him has been nipping at him constantly so I moved him into a separate tank to treat the swim bladder and tonight I’ve noticed this! Please help me and tell me what I can do to help him!

I don't have much experience with breeds of goldfish and somebody might suggest differently, but if he is in a QT I would treat with Melafix and Pimifix. They are fairly gental as far as medication goes and I have had great success with them. Melafix helps with finrot and bacterial infections and pimafix helps with fungal infections. To me it just looks like he has an injury and some missing scales from being picked on, so I think preventative treatment is the way to go. But like I said, someone with more experience may see something I don't

Also what size is the tank? Its unusual for goldfish to pick on eachother, theyre usually peaceful unless the tank is too small

I have just ordered some test strips so hopefully will know the water quality soon. The tank is 54L with 2 medium size goldfish in it, they don’t always pick on each other but more occasional nipping

Well honestly that's really small for 2 goldfish. I have 3 in a 75gal. I think the "rule" is atleast 20gal for 1 and atleast 10 gal for each additional fish. Ur tank is about 14gal (54l) so it could b a water issue and too small of a tank

Aquarium salt will help as well as frequent water changes. Make sure none of the other fish in there are sensitive to salt though. I have killed snails before, forgetting salt kills snails.
