Help fin rot :(

My betta fish heithcliff bit his tail last week out of excitement because he was getting brine shrimp. He had a few holes to start with and I did a 50%waterchange so it wouldn’t get infected but it got infected and the next day he looked all shredded and o started doing 50% water changes every other day and adding API stresscoat +. It looked like he was getting better for a few days the fin stopped shedding away and he was ok but I just woke up and now more of his fin is gone and some of his other top fin is gone too :( . I’m so sad because he is so beautiful and big and happy and I just want him to be healthy too :(. Should I use aquarium salt to help his fin rot?? I’ve used it in the past where I had a fish in a 1 gal for like 7 days with the salt water I did almost 100% daily water changes tho I think and there was nothing wrong with them after. I’m just worried I don’t want to stress him out and kill him. I’ve heard of salt baths where I just plop him in the salt water for like ten minutes but that sounds like it would be even more stressful for him. I don’t know I just want my fish to be happy and healthy any advice?

I think there is a good chance he is a fin biter. Keep going with your treatment and maybe try adding some more plants, real or fake. That may cause him enough distraction and things to explore to stop biting. As long as he biting, his fins will constantly heal and then look like that again.

do you have anything sharp or plastic in your tank that could be the culprit of why his fins are being shredded? Does he bite his own fins?

I will add some more plants maybe change around the ones he has already and continue with the waterchanges I’ve only ever seen him bite himself once tho and that was the cause of all this

He’s only bit himself once and that was a week ago and it got infected causing the finrot I beleive nothing sharp in the tank I checked everything before I put it in. The only sharp thing could be the catappa leaf I have in there maybe

They will do it when you aren't looking as well. Extra plants and frequent rearranging are the best things i have found to battle biters. Either goes away or makes it pretty i frequent. Is kind of a pain for sure.

I’ve added three new plants to his tank Anubias, some cryptocorine, and some Java fern. I hope he is excited by the new environment:) his fins have gotten a bit worse over night. I was considering doing salt baths because I can’t add salt to the planted tank. Has anyone ever done salt baths before?? I’ve only ever kept my fish in a tank with salt for like five days. Is a salt bath supposed to be like 10 minutes a day? I don’t know and is it the same concentration ??
