Omega One Cichlid pellets are good as well as Omega One Color flakes. I don't know where you are but Petsmart carries Omega one foods.

Treat them to some live food, or at least frozen food and they will love you.

Live brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms, and beef heart.

you can hatch eggs with a 2 liter and air stone, baby brine shrimp are one of the most nutritious foods available because of the yolk sack connected to the shrimp. Frozen bloodworms are way cheap and last a long time. Beef heart isn't like steak or ground beef, discus breeders feed their prized fish this so it can't be bad right?

To learn more about hatching shrimp you can google about a million results.

I feed mine frozen brine shrimp frozen blood worms cichlid pelets and nightcrawlers (a sometimes snack). They will break the water surface to grab a worm.

Just be careful how many eggs you put in the container lol, it seems like a few...it not .

We also used to make our own beef heart based fish food for our Discus, I can't remember what was in it, but there are a number of recipes online.

Well at least their nutritious. Seriously though, sorry that's just how keeping large cichlids works unless they are specifically known not to eat smaller fish. I would assume it's the jack, how big is it?

Psssst.... your Rocio Octofasciata and Cryptoheros Nigrofasciatus are Central American not South American.

Buy yourself the highest quality pellet you can afford and you won't need to feed 10 different things.

FishGuy101, You could get some NEW LIFE SPECTRUM pellets. They are the best in my opinion and a lot of other members feed nls as well.
Kens fish has them as well as amazon.

Your parrot would also love some romaine lettuce! Also feed frozen green peas 1 x a week to clean them out!
Just peel the skin off after they defrost and cut in the size you need for your fish.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but Rocio Octofasciata (Jack Dempsey) is a fish from Honduras and Mexico. They are not a South American cichlid.

I am not even sure what convicts are central through south American cichlids means?
