Help!! Dropsy Symptom!

this morning when I turned my tank lights on I noticed one of my betta sorority girls in the corner, thought she was still sleeping since it was the morning. I come back to feed and turn light off now, and she is in the same place. top corner of the tank. looked at her for a hot minute and she is starting to pine cone. I just list one of my girls to dropsy about a month ago when my brother overfed my tank, and I found her in very bad condition. sunny does not seem to be as bad as her. she has no other symptoms just pineconing, heavy breathing, and staying still. what do I do! I have my bloodworms thawing about i'm about to add kinaplex to them, as she did try to eat when I feed the tank today. I also have separated her from the main tank into lil bit bigger than a quart container. what else do I do!!

Update: made a new hospital tank, 5 gallon bucket halfway, added heater and extra cycled sponge filter and some more anarchias, added the 1/2 a kanaplex scoop, feed some bloodworms with kanaplex and focus she ate them! also a bit of a pea (also feed to all tank mates and added to that tank too) also added 3ml stress guard and 2tbs dissolved aquarium salt. temp is set to 81. she is resting on the plant, I hope she sleeps well and gets a little better over night, someone please give comments or suggestions!!!

Don't know how to link posts on my phone, but there are several threads about dropsy treatment in the Betta section of the forum. Hope your fish gets better!!

To me it looks like you caught it early, I have good faith that your betta will survive. I wish you and your fishy the best of luck

Bloodworms are the number one food that causes bloating, so I’d choose something like brine shrimp, or even better...a cooked skinned pea.

I gave her a pea, and only like 2 bloodworms. I don't have any other food to mix with

Hi, don't use aquarium salt, what you'll want to use is epsom salt. Buuuut, you can wait until the next kanaplex dose. I really hope your fish pulls through, keep us updated! Do a 50% wc before each kanaplex dose (so every other day, I believe) and add in some unscented epsom salt, if you have any.

Soak 1-2 pellets in epsom salt and feed them to her. That might help. It looks like you caught it early so she hopefully will pull through

I've dealt with dropsy in the past and the most effective treatment I found was this:

Add some Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to the Qt tank
Add a heater and increase the temp to about 30c slowly by 2 degree increments
Make sure you have plenty of aeration
Dose Furan2 and kanaplex/Metroplex either by dosing them in the water or using medicated food (for best results I mixed repashy gel food with Focus, Metroplex and kanaplex. If you use medicated food, then only dose the furan-2 into the water)
Kanaplex and Co can affect your biological filtration by killing off your beneficial bacteria so make sure to also dose seachem prime and stability to keep your parameters stable

You've caught it early so fingers crossed she pulls through!

hey guys, sunny is probably going to pass today. her swelling went down and then came back worse, I found her lying sideways at the bottom of the hospital tub so I moved her into a small container with a plant and some stress guard, she's breathing slower now so i'm hoping that helping her to be comfortable, since I don't have clove oil

I am so sorry for you loss. The first thing I would do is go get another betta. Life is easier with a betta

well, she was apart of my sorority, all sisters I got as babies! here she was when I first got her (she's in the middle)
IMG_7600.jpg anddd all her other siblings
IMG_7604.jpg I don't think I'll add to the sorority, ive never had any aggression since they all are siblings, but now it's just down to three blizzard rainy and cloudy, along with their three snail and two shrimp mates
