So I know globettas are a little I guess looked down upon but I have one because someone gifted him to me and right now he’s in a 5 gallon it’s not cycled yet but I’m dosing literally x5 the amount of prime every day or 48 hrs. Now to my issue the waters cloudy which I think is normal for a cycling tank the issue is he’s kind of unresponsive for example just now he was at the top and I put a pellet in front of him and he didnt eat it and then I placed it directly in front of his nose no movement.... I poked him gently... no movement.... then he quickly swims away. I have already grown very attached to him please help me :(

I dunno what Zeolite crystals are, but I don't think you need to be overdosing prime like that in a 5 gallon with one betta in there, just water changes should keep your ammonia low while your tank is cycling. Also, how was his behavior before he became lethargic? I know he was gifted to you so it's hard to determine how he was like when he was purchased, but it would be helpful to know as much as possible.

Definitely don't need near that much prime. A single betta does not create near that much ammonia. I do OD on water conditioners but barely, and that is to compensate for unknown possible additions of chlorine to the city water supply.

Oh my bad guys on overdosing and to me and the person who gifted him to me he was active swimming around and even flared at me and zeolite crystals ”helps reduce toxic ammonia” and is every day for water changes ok? If so how much water?

  • Test your water daily and do a 50% water change if ammonia or nitrites, or a combination of the two, reaches 0.50 ppm.
  • Only add Prime to detox the chlorine when you add new water (assuming you're on city water or some other water system).
  • Don't use any other additives.

Wow thankyou this is awesome I’ll follow it exactly :)
Im very confused so now my ph is saying 6.6 now how does that make sense if my other tanks say 7.6-7.8 I have no driftwood or anything just water and prime and fake decor and a sponge filter? And my ammonia is 0 and nitrites 0 and nitrates 0 it’s been weeks

I'm afraid I can't help with that. Maybe someone else will have some ideas about it. To be honest, I think people sometimes worry too much about pH.
