Ok, so for my ten gallon I am changing it to a pea puffer tank. and I need a new heater. I need it cheaper, but I still want the quality. And I know that cheaper heaters don't heat water as great, so I thoguh I would get a 150 and set it to the right adjusting level, cause here we get cold winters! So is this deal on ebay a good one? follow my link please!!!!!!!

thank-you very much!!!!

Just so I understand, you want to put 150W heater on a 10G tank?

I think that is massive overkill, personally I'd look to a 25W-50W max. The 150W would heat too fast in my opinion.

Also, the size of the heater vs the tank. According to the eBay page, the 150W is nearly 11" long.

Would it be over kill? If I kept it at low? does this look like a good deal if I just get the 100 watt? also, if you wouldnt mind answering, should I have a powerhead in this tank?

Powerhead isn't needed in my opinion for a 10 gallon tank. Your filter will provide enough filtration.

To clarify, what I meant is that I think you should look at a 25W heater for a 10G, possibly a 50W. Anything higher is massive over-kill. IMO, higher than 50W and you risk heating your tank too quickly. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Leaving the heater set low would defeat the purpose

Regarding a powerhead, no, in a 10G your filter will provide enough water movement.

Either a 50watt or 100watt for $8.69 plus free shipping is a good deal to me.

I have 2 10 gallon tanks, my heaters in both are 50watt.

I've never used this brand or familiar with it, before purchasing, I would look for a product review first to be on safe side.

well, I have a fifty watt. it works fine, but won't heat my water as well. so I thought that if I put in a heater ( now, thinking maybe a 100 watt)
of that size it would be ok. in don't want ot purchase one that gives just enough heat, cause of our darn michigan winters and such things. I see what you are saying with heating the water too fast though.
