Help Boss Trying To Give Me 8 Convicts For 36 G Tank

Just looking for some ways to handle a tricky situation. First off I work for a well known Pet Supplier. (Which makes this 10 times worse) My Store Manager is trying to pawn off her 8 Convicts on me, as she is converting her 55 g into a saltwater tank. I have just set up a 36 g bowfront tank. (That was given to me by my Assistant Mgr) She has to know good and well this tank is WAY too small for all these Convicts. How would you approach her in saying, Thanks but no thanks? (Remember, this is your boss your talking to) I guess I'm looking for good arguments for not taking the 8 Convicts.

 

You can say, ‘I really appreciate the offer, but right now I’m unable to take them in. My current fish aren’t compatable with them. I wish I could.’ Or something like that

 

Say that you already stocked the tank.

 

I don’t find it a big deal to just say no.

 

She actually drained the 36 gallon at the Asst Managers apt and delivered it to work for me. Talk about making a deal with the devil. Lol Then the bomb was dropped on me that now her 8 Convicts had a place to go. Ugh.

 

Maybe take them in and then rehome them?

 

You guys are absolutely right, I did not agree to taking in the 8 Convicts as a condition of him giving me the tank. (He is moving and can't take the tank with him) I should not feel obligated to take her "problem" off her hands.

We rehome fish at our store, so she has that option at her disposal. I'm just going to tell her I have other plans for the tank. Keep it simple. Once I posted this I realized I was worrying far too much about this.

 

Not your circus not your monkeys, or in this case your tank not your problem. You are under no obligations regardless of her station at work. Its her own fault for picking convicts as fish without taking the time to research them and figure out they aren't worth much and they breed like rabbits.
