Help!! Betta throwing up yesterday's food after adding melafix and Pimafix

Sorry for not doing emergency template, but this might be time sensitive. For now assume I'm doing everything fine.

My betta has been sick for about a month. I'm waiting for meds in the mail, all I have access to right now is salt(s), melafix, and Pimafix.

He had a host of problems which had been getting kind of better, except for fin rot which has slowly gotten worse. Today, he had white fungal (?) Growths on his fin tips again. They've healed before.

I know melafix and Pimafix and controversial, but I've been using melafix at 1/4 dose with no ill effects. I added a full dose of both today (2ml melafix and 2.5ml Pimafix in a 5.5). Yesterday I did half of that, no issues.

I haven't fed him today. Yesterday he had repashy grub pie (less than the size of his eye and mixed with a little metroplex) along with three live mosquito larvae, spread out throughout the day.

A minute after adding the fixes, he started throwing up.
He threw up at least 3-4 times, more than I would have expected based on what I fed him.

He started swimming around erratically after resting on the bottom so I scooped him out in some tank water. Then filled a 1L container with fresh water and pour him in. There's an airstone and a heater in it.

He keeps clamping his pectoral fins and resting on the bottom, which he has never ever done before. I keep disturbing the surface of the water to check that he's responsive and he swims around then back down. He's scaring me because he's never done that ever.

Help what do I do so scared for flower I feel like I made a mistake but i don't know what

Also he's been constipated but he poops a huge poo every few days, which is why I have been giving metroplex

I'm really sorry this happened to you Since no one has replied yet I'll give it a go and say that the melafix and pimafix probably made things worse, especially since this happened right after adding the medication. Best bet is to remove that meds with carbon and hope he recovers from it

I did an 85% water change and rinsed the filter media in tank water, do you think that will be enough?
It seemed like they were helping in smaller doses so idk if I should completely take it out with carbon.

It was weird to see him vomit so much, why do you think he did that? It seems weird the food had been in his system so long without digesting

Honestly I don’t even know that fish can vomit. If it is truly vomit it’s very strange indeed. But I know for our dry pets, vomit with constipation is usually when we look at a possible impaction or blockage in the GI system.

I’d like you do a full timeline of events with water parameters ammonia nitrites nitrates. When did this all start, and what were the readings? What were the original symptoms? What did you do to treat it? You said he’s had a ton of problems that get better and then something else hits. That leads me to believe it’s either water quality or his immune system is low because of the onslaught of medications. I want a play-by-play so I know what happened, what you did, what happened next, etc.

If this has been going on for a long time now, I think it’s best to give him a break from all the meds and just let him rest and de-stress while we figure out a game plan.

Also as a side note, metroplex is the drug metronidazole which helps with parasites and some bacterial infections, not constipation.

I have never heard of fish vomiting before either. I never recommend using multiple medications at once. Often it causes too much stress and bad reactions. I rarely recommend medications at all. I'd add carbon to the tank and remove the medication. Give him some clean warm water for a while to recover.
