Help before to late

    Had my tank for about 2 months now tang about 2 weeks yesterday was perfectly fine now today I come home and his fins are chewed up put him in segregation tank I got from petco but he has some red spots that weren't there before
    Did 25 percent water change last Sunday
    Tested water last night
    PH 8.2
    Ammonia .25 lfs told me because of poor water quality in california because of drought that I shouldn't worry about ammonia this was before I noticed this today
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 40 ppm

    I live in Southern California and I don't have ammonia in my tank. Is your tank cycled?

    Yea been reading online came across a page that said it's marine velvet disease what should I do

    You need to act fast to save your fish. I would catch everybody, put them in quarantine and treat with Ick-Shield (the active ingredient I believe is chloroquine phosphate which treats many marine illnesses). If you don't have any corals or inverts, you can treat you display system although I would not advise it.

    You will need to leave your tank fallow at least 6 weeks to starve out the velvet.

    Thanks but tang died last night and my last clown isn't looking good I don't have the cash till pay day to get a quarantine tank so I'm screwed
