Heavily Pregnant Swordtail, Male Won't Leave Her Alone

I have a question. I have a heavily pregnant pineapple swordtail, 2 other female swordtails, and 1 male swordtail but he is only bothering my pregnant one. He chases her all day and she can't seem to hide from him for long. He shows no interest in the other 2 swordtail females. I'm worried he is gonna overly stress her, but I'm worried chasing her or him with the net might also stress her out too much. It's my first batch of swordtail babies and I'm worried about the female as so far my luck with them has not been the greatest till these. Any suggestions welcome, I have a feeling she will be having her babies soon as she is huge but then again I could be wrong. I have had her about 2-3 weeks but I know she could have been pregnant when I got her.

Really the only thing you can do is separate them. Put him or her into one of those breeding baskets would be the easiest thing.

But woulD chasing her with the net hurt her? I have a tank for my live bearers but I'm not sure how close she is and I had hoped he would leave her alone and go for the others or I would have moved her earlier. I just don't want to over stress her and risk her health my preteen would be devastated.

Hurt her no, stress her yes. I doubt it would have much impact on her birthing tho, I've moved pregnant fish from tank to tank many times with no ill effects givin the water parameters are the same.

I have the same thing with My platy’s. The male is very protective of her and chases the other male away. My female seems to like it though. It’s like husband and wife. Lol

Ya my swordtail hates it. She tries to hide in the caves and plants but he usually finds her pretty quick and then she has to run away and try and find another hiding spot.

He is chasing her because she is going to be giving birth soon, meaning he has a chance to father her next offspring. If he doesn't catch her within the short 24 or so hours after she gives birth the previous male she bred with will be the father of the spawn, not the male with her.
