Heater Faulty?

So when I first had my heater in the Tank I set it to 79 and left it alone. I decided to get a digital thermometer so I can get a visual reading of the temperature. It showed 81. So I lowered the heater to 77 and it went to 79. Is it normal for these off readings? Also had a couple of cold days and the temp went all the way down to 75. Do I need a new heater? I currently have the Marine Land 150. Its a 29 Gallon Tank

It’s possible to be off a couple degrees if you can get a glass thermometer and compare readings. Personally I don’t care for the digital ones .. I did a test with 4 in a bucket and all four had different readings. Here is what I use now and I can get readings all over the tank and check all tanks at any time
