We have a18 litre tank...I need to know do I need a heater in my fish tank.
We live in the tropics and the temp is never below 22C degrees inside.
On average the temp would be between 22 - 28C in the house.
I have an 1 orange Molly and some fry. The orange one is constantly hiding near the pump and only occasionally comes out to feed.
If I need a heater what type do I get.
    Thank you.

If you have species in the tank that are tolerant to a slightly lower temperature, then you do not need a heater.
IMO your Molly and the babies will be OK without a heater
In hotter weather conditions, do not allow the tank to get too hot.
Cool using fans played on the water surface
    Good Luck

At that temperature, yes I would still recommend having a heater. 22C is too cold, and a heater will help keep the temperature stable for your fish (instead of warm during the day but cold at night). For that size tank you should get a 25 watt heater, preferably with adjustable thermostat.

Thanks for your reply to my question. I too think I need a heater because of the fluctuation of temps day and night. So will look into 25 watt heater.
    Much appreciated...
