Healthy Otto?

Do these ottos look healthy meaning fed or over weight? From what ive read there starved a lot so I'm trying to ensure there fed but not overfed. I only have 4 now, planning on getting 2 or 3 more because I love these guys..after I remove a molly of course lol. Ive heard ottos die easily but ive had my 1 for 3 months and added 3 more about a month ago. No problems. Even when ick affected my tank the ottos where never infected..maybe I'm just lucky? I did have a 10 gallon where I had my original 3. only one lived...I believe they starved because they died within 3 days. I now feed them 2 or 3 algae wafers every 2-3 days..my mystery snail eats 1 immediately. I also feed them 2 cucumber slices every other day..they LOVE them. I don't blanch though they seem to love them anyway..I just rinse off really good and let it dry. I tried lettuce and it had holes in the morning when aquarium light went on but I'm not sure if livebearers ate that. Is this a good enough diet or should I also add something else..or how often should I actually feed? Its a lot of different opinions. There always very active and searching for food. Just making sure I'm doing it right. Thanks

Sweet an Otto tank. Looks good, just remove any uneaten food as that will have fun little effects on your cycle.

Thank you! I've been doing 25% water changes every few days because I did not realize livebearers poop so much!! Literally that's all they do and scavenge for food. I was feeding twice a day what they can eat in 2 minute but today I'm starting to feed once a day..at night before aquarium lights go off.

I don't feed my ottos. They clean anything that has alegae on it. I didn't realize my ornaments were the color they are. They cleaned all the alegae off them. Also some of my swords have alegae that they clean up. I leave my lights on more than I normally would sothey have a food supply.

They do eat algae off my ornaments I'm assuming there always cruising around but I've had this tank for 2 months so wasn't sure if its adequate algae. I have a mystery snail & two ghost shrimp that are always eating too.

Let them adapt to vegs Ed. If algaes run out they won't to adapt afterwards.!

Sometimes when you feed them vegs they don't eat the alegae. I have a heavily planted tank that always has some alegae and actually grow alegae at times outside the tank just for the times I may need it. Haven't had to use it yet. But your point is well taken.
