My betta Achilles blew his 2nd bubble nest! He originally blew his first one about 4 days ago.

Some pictures!

It always gives every aquarist a sense of relief knowing that they're fish are happy and okay. =)

If you were wondering how to encourage bubble nest building, there really isn't much to it. I mean he made this around 78-80 degrees F. You can also add some plants that cover the surface so your betta can feel comfortable making the nest around a safe area. --> He also blew a little bubbles around the hammock that was very close to the surface. **You also have to make sure that the filter current isn't too strong, obviously.

Besides that, I think you just have to keep up with your tank maintenance and make sure that your betta is properly fed! Lol.

Also, I have a plastic plant in the tank. Yes, I know. I told my parents about live plants and they said I should "save up enough money" because they've spent more than $200 on this tank already. With the plastic plant, I haven't had any issues whatsoever. My betta swims through and around it. However, I definitely wouldn't do plastic with a longer-finned variety.

I would have never had fake plants if I knew what they were and the importance before starting the hobby. We live and we learn.

Looks like a good sized nest! Now, no freaking out is allowed when you get a nice slick of bio-film on the surface :)

Same thing that causes it everywhere else in the tank i would imagine. Only really appears on the surface in areas of low agitation. Biofilm just kind of happens with water, don't know all the science behind it.
