HI all! So something I have wanted for a long time is a pool pond and I think I have it figured out but I need to do more research and chances are I won’t be actually do this for a long time but wanted to throw the idea out there! The pond I want to get is 500 gallons (7ft/5ft/2ft) and my filtration is a bucket filtration idea where I will put a bucket (raised above the tank), also likely will just be a 5 gallon bucket. And will pump water to it with a hole cut in the bottom facing the tank so the water flows back to the pond. The bucket will hold filter media sponge, etc. it won’t have a heater so temp will likely be about 60 Fahrenheit and here is what I want to stock:
- 1 spotted gar
- 1 wolf fish
- 1 silver arowana (or another spotted gar)

would this work and anyone have any ideas? I would have netting over the tank to prevent jumping.

They all are, as far as I know and I think the diy bucketfilter is not enough.

Aren’t arowana warm water?
I thought it was but had to check. I wouldn’t get the arowana if it can’t Handel cold waters. That’s why I said either two gar or an arrowana. I didn’t think they were all warm water though. I’ll have to check that.

How cold does it get where you are? saratoga (Australian Arowana) can tolerate some colder water.

I’d love a massive pond. I’d stock mine with a Murray cod - or possibly just heaps and heaps of cichlids :)

I might just invest in a heater. How many watts do you recommend?
