About two weeks ago I found two 1/2 inch baby peppered corys [when do fish go from fry to baby?] in my tank that housed only peppered corys [6] I am now wanting to convert this tank to a quarantine tank. [10 gallon planted] I have moved all the adults to a 29 gallon planted. [the long term plan is for everybody to go into a cycling 55 planted] The tank they go into has neon tetras, serpae tetras and bristlenose pleco, and the 6 peppered corys. I am most worried about the serpae picking on the babies these babies are beyond adorable, even husband I find making baby noises at the tank] So advice appreciated. How big should they be before I move 'em? [they are growing fast, I would say 3/4 inch now and swimming occasionally to the top]

New to this site. I simply love cory cats.

who knew baby fish were this cute? My baby corys are way cuter than your baby corys. Probably smarter too.

I have had a number of various types of cories. I find that it is best for me not to move them until they are at least an inch plus. They seem to know the tank they are in and the neighborhood. Don't forget they are conditioned to THAT water, THAT algae, THATnfeeding regiment, etc...I know what you are trying to do but hold off a bit longer if possible.
Just noticed....welcome to fishlore

Welcome to Fishlore, fellow cory addict! I have a feeling we'll be seeing each other quite often on this forum section! XD

I have mollies, guppies, endlers, and cories in my tank, and my baby peppered catfish LevI escaped his breeder and survived. I found that he became unafraid of the other fish once he grew to be about one inch.
So I agree, one inch is a good size. If your worried, put places for your little ones to hide when you move them. A bit of harassing when they are first placed in the new tank is normal, but if the harassment continues after a few days, move them back to the old tank until they get bigger.

I don't blame your or your husband, baby cories are absolutely adorable! Forget kittens, cory fry are the cutest things ever! I have 3 couple day old ones and one who just hatched today, I coo over them like they are my own kids. x3
And don't forget to acclimate your fish before you move them!

Fedora and Jim, thanks, I can wait it out. Rather safe than sorry. I'd feel terrible if they didn't make it and I knew I was just rushing things.

Oh, forgot to add. The 29 and 10 gallon are kind of joined ate the hip. So water is as similar as I know to make it. Don't know if this is bad practice but I have moved fish back and forth as I work the big plan. Plants especially go back and forth. Now with the 55 I really want to convert the 10G to a QT tank. So I am hoping this makes the move easier on them. Lots of moss, lots go java fern.
