Hate it when clown loaches play dead!

I'm talking about the play dead trick Clowns do.
one minute they are playing happily...





The next they are belly up in the tank looking
for all the world that they have met their demise...





A buddy comes to check him out...





Even an Acara has a look...






Then it just pops up and says ...ha! I had you going there...

 

My BN does that! He get's up under his drift wood and it looks like he just fell off while he was sucking on it... I usually panic and reach in and move the drift wood so that I can make sure he is okay.

 

OMG!!!!!!! I would be freaking!! is that normal for them?

They do this all the time Shawnie, so do my Polka dots.
Must be a loach thing.

Yep this is a loachy thing. Years ago I had my chair at the end of the loach tank and when I was relaxing they would come down, stare at me a bit then just float over. When I would freak out and jump up they would swim really fast to the spot where I always fed them just waiting for food and doing the loachy dance They are really cool and intelligent fish.

that is normal for a happy clown loach. keep up the good work . I have 5 clown loaches 2 of which are 7 years old...ready to breed for them, and they do it all the time like I said its normal for a happy clown loach.

 

Great pictures, I love clown loaches. They are one of the fish on the top of our list to get when we get a bigger tank.
