10 Gallon Minimum. I would suggest getting a Topfin Mesh Breeder Box or any brand and putting it in the 10 Gallon to hatch the eggs. Wait until they are big enough then release into the 10 Gallon tank. Once they hatch they are not free floating until a day or two and makes it easier to feed them while they are in the mesh box.

I fed mine the newly hatched brine shrimp. The supplier should give you a packet of either brine shrimp eggs or fairy shrimp eggs for you to hatch but it isn't enough until they start eating flakes.

Sponge filter will be sufficient.

The eggs are shipped in a small ketchup (take out container) packed in peat moss. Just empty contents in the breeder box.

Btw not all my eggs and fry made it to adult hood...I probably had 5 of them. I didn't see any aggression out of them. there is an article here on killis. This is base on my experience. I later release the adult killis in my bigger tank. I had no interest in breeding them. The longest mine lived was 2 years.

Okay I was planning on having them in my breeder.I have fairy, brine, and fruit fly larva that is what I fed my guppy fry. I ordered 60 eggs so we will see. I plan on giving my friend the females and keeping the males to live in my daughters 15 gallon. I know they do not live long but they are beautiful fish.

which one did you order?

I really liked raising the Killis, they were so use to me that came to my hand so I can hand feed them as adults.

It well be a mix of Nothobranchius rachovii, Blue gularis, Nothobranchius Guentheri, and Korthausae Killifish. Of those I hope to have Blue gularis and rachoviI survive.

I know what you meant. BTW if nothing hatches from the batch you bought you can tell the seller. It happened only once to me and he sent me a new batch.

You can check the eggs to determine if they are ready to be hatched by spreading the peat on a plate and examining them under a bright light. If you can see their eyes (gold rings) then they are ready to hatch. After they stop hatching (about 2 days) you can dry the peat and rewet it in another month or two and you'll get more eggs to hatch. To prevent velvet add 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon and you'll get a much better survival rate. Good Luck!
