IMG_1445.JPG HI guys, I just brought home this cute little betta earlier this week. He's doing great and seems nice and healthy apart from a tiny pinhole in his bottom fin. However, he has a long tendril of tissue hanging from the base of his tail!

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

His name is Smudge

That's weird!

If he seems healthy I wouldn't worry about it.
Maybe just some fin rot that healed weirdly

That's what I thought!!! It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all and it's the exact same colour as his tail. I've never seen anything like it before, it's even curly at the bottom haha thanks for your reply

If you really hate it, I know you can perform minor cosmetic surgery on arowana by putting them out with clove oil, taking them out of water, and cutting their fins a little with VERY sharp scissors so that they'll grow back nicer.

I don't know if you can with Betta's and clove oil can be lethal in high doses so I would only do that if you're comfortable.

Thanks so much for putting my mind at rest, I really appreciate it! Here he is! He's very pretty (in real life his body is quite a vibrant lilac colour and his fins are violet going into dark purple but he has some iridescence and sometimes looks pink....and his little personality is beginning to show already

Thank you! I have never seen such a purple one either! I've had a couple of pinky purple ones in my time but never a really purple one he was quite pale in the store but when I got him home and started acclimatizing him to the tank water he literally changed colour before our very eyes. My 6 year old son was completely amazed. He was like "wow mommy Smudge is changing colour" lol
