Harry Potter Slytherin Tank W Angelfish

This is going to be a build thread for my first big tank! We bought a 55 gallon! My daughter is 11 and this was her bday gift. We are making a Harry Potter Slytherin theme! I have a 10 gallon that has 2 angels and some type of pleco. I hope to rehome them to the slytherin tank when it's ready!

I am researching tank mates for the Angelfish.

We started with 6 zebra danios to start my tank fish in cycle! We had 4 tiger barbs and lost them already We've had them since 10/28! Wish us luck! And tag along for advice! Thank you!

Plastic plants and some moss balls. Id like to consider real plants later

(Btw, the pleco looks like a common... which can grow big!)

For keeping up with the theme. Consider kuhlI loaches - many say they look like snakes!

 

Congrats on the 55g. I never though about adding Lego's to a tank! Looking very good.

I learned from this forum that Pleco's love slices of zucchini. I stab it with a bamboo skewer and secure it to the substrate. My Pleco's love it! The other fish will graze on the slices, but the Pleco's can't get enough.

You mentioned you lost 4 tiger barbs, were you getting high ammonia levels?

We saw someone else add the legos and researched it. Just keeping them sunk is the main issue. We will be adding the big castle soon!

Raw zucchini? That sounds fun to watch!

And I have not seen a huge spike yet, so I was surprised to have lost my barbs. I was told they were hardy fish.
