Hardiest Form Of Anubias???

I tried some anubias nana (not petite) and anubias congensis in with my gold fish and it did not do well. the goldfish left it alone but both kinds started to get holes and leaf melt. tank is 20 long, sand substrate and no ferts added. I also wasn't running a light but I recently ordered a pheonix led clip on light. I really want to keep it low low tech. no plans to dose in the future. So in your guys opinion what is the hardiest form of anubias? I was thinking I might try A. barteri.

I have anubias barterI nana and it’s doing amazing. It depends on how well your source keeps the plants. My source had extremely healthy plants.
Also, acclimate your plants to your water.
You can do drip acclimation like one would do with fish.I know it sounds weird, but it worked for me and none of my plants have died yet.

I have my plants for a few months, but the java fern melted away and anubias is looking rough.

You will need a light on the tank for the plants to grow.
Any particular reason as to why you don’t want to dose ferts?

I don't want to dose for one it'll cost me more $$$ and second I want to keep things simple. if I start dosing I'll have to spend more time dialing in the tank parameters and with it being only a 20 gallon I'm afraid of battling algae blooms and nitrate blooms.
