Happiest Ten Gallon

So I just wanted a thread to be able to keep everything going on in my ten in one place and so I can look back at changes etc.

As of yesterday it looks like this, I got a bunch of free plants and want to see what will grow and what isn't doing so well before I scape the tank.

I definitely need to add more sand though and I think I'm going to pull the Elodea into my 30 because it kind of takes over the tank or I might just trim it back I haven't quite decided yet!

Yesterday I brought my ChilI school up to 12 so the newbies are getting settled and the originals have colored up beautifully over the last couple weeks

cool I have a thread like this too, called 52 weeks of tank works. it's so interesting to go back and see how much our tanks have changed! subscribed.

are you thinking of putting up a background?

I'll go check your thread out , I'm thinking black to help the giant filter blend in, but then my tank will have SO MUCH black lol, I also haven't decided how I want to go about it yet so I'm just waiting a little while-

Finally finding some rocks that I'm liking I'll probably work on scaping it next week after my moss comes.
I went with "velvet blue dream" shrimp. (Or something like that )

Did I get super lucky or is it too soon to tell? My scarlet badis are already eating sinking pellets, even after they already hit the sand, unlike my chili!

Updates and a question!

I'll start with the question, one of my blue velvet shrimp has a white stripe going down its back that it didn't have before, I know with bamboo shrimp this is normal, but is it normal with dwarf shrimp or cause for alarm?

As for updates I added new moss but I'll probably push scaping back another week because the driftwood I want is still soaking.
And one of the six shrimp died for sure, and I know at least three are alive.. sometimes they're very hard to find...

I know what you mean about shrimp being hard to find. I was positive I had lost both of my amano shrimp, and then found Grace munching away at algae about a week later. XD

(I did find the body of the first shrimp, so I figured that to be the fate of the second.)

excited to see pictures of the scape!

sneaky little guys

I've now confirmed four alive

Also Scarlett Badis have become my new favorite fish because this little terror has been zooming around the tank eating snail eggs, making my life much easier lol.

They'll all get named eventually I'm just looking for something that fits.

Also I've noticed that one of my chilI rasbora is missing am eye, there's zero aggression in this tank (unless you are a snail egg ) so he was either born this way or it happened somewhere along the line before I bought him. Although there doesn't seem to be any indicator that an eye used to be there?
