Half Sand Half Aquarium Soil

I am about to rescape my 10 gallon betta tank. I would love to do one back corner (half or so) aquarium soil and the other half pool filter sand. I'm wondering how hard it would be to keep it looking nice while doing gravel vacs. I feel like it might all mix together??

I use plastic Tupperware/food containers with recycle symbol 5 to hold sand and put other substrate around them, you never see the containers and ensures the sand stays put even through lots of digging
