Anyone know what this is or how to treat?

Could it be algae? It looks a bit like hair algae to me. Can you gently rub it off?

It does gently rub off but comes back within a few days which is why I was concerned!

Are you noticing it on any other surfaces in your tank or just on this guy?

No surfaces but only on 2/3 mysteries in that tank

This strand is longer than his shell.

How is your snail now? A gentle scrub with a clean toothbrush might do better at scraping off the hair algae (if that's what it is) and if your tank water parameters are under control then the algae won't grow back.
I'd do a quick water test, just in case. You could also get multiple snails so they can munch on the algae as it grows on each other!

Other than that, I don't know what else it could be or how to solve it. Sorry

Hey! He's actually great. I gave him a toothbrush bath that day and boiled all his decorations and rinsed the tank with boiling water (because I wasn't sure if parasites) (didn't wash the filter to preserve bacteria) and he hasn't had any since! His shell growth has been really nice looking. When I posted this it was the third day I had him so I think he brought the algae from the previous owner and I had never seen it before. I've been doing every other day water changes just in case. Thank you for following up!
