Guppy unexplained death, need help to access

I bought 3 male guppies on 9/14/22. They accumulated to my quarantine tank prior to putting them in. They were fine as far as behavior but one seemed to look like the beginning of popeye or some type of fungus. I started API salt treatment on 9/30. The day after I started the treatment, I noticed odd behavior in another guppy (yellow), not the one with a possible fungus issue. The yellow guppy was hovering under the HOB out flow that I have a baffle on. Yesterday he would hover at top of water and bottom but no active swimming. Water parameters were good. I run an HOB and bio sponge filter. He did not have any visible injuries or nipping. This morning I found him dead. Water parameters, water temp, injuries, bullying, oxygen, swim bladder were all ruled out. Does anyone have any idea what happened to this little guy. He was fine until the API salt treatment. The other two guppies are going great. Their active and eating. I'm so baffled.

Hard to tell what the exact problem has been. May have been an internal issue.

Well I went to Petsmart with my dead guppy and exchanged him for one that is alive. I can't stand chain stores. They have absolutely no clue about fish. I'm going to look into some reputable online sellers.

Commercially raised guppies are notoriously difficult to keep alive longer than about a month. There are a number of online sellers who sell fish they've raised, so they should be much hardier. I personally have dumbo mosaic guppies and gold guppies, though shipping to Idaho this time of year may be problematic since it's getting colder.

Pwilly07 has a larger selection than I do. You might take a look at his online store.

Thank you ProudPapa. Yes, we are getting close to cold weather. According to the forecast we have one more week before we need to start winterizing. Is it possible to purchase wild guppies? Is there a resource out there? I'm just curious as I just watched a video related to it.

Probably, but I don't know of a source offhand.

Well, most will outlive a month. But yes, they're weaker for sure...

It is. There are multiple breeders of wild guppies. I'm one of them but I'm a bit far from you.

Lol, yes are very far. I kind of assumed that to get guppies from the wild would require importation to the U.S.
