From the picture they have they look really cool, especially the ones that are black and yellow painted. I hope they get some in soon, I keep checking back, but no luck yet.

No, no, I haven't, and am getting so curious. Can't wait til one of you gets them so we can see pix. Wondering which section to put them in, though.

Am, do you mean the pix of the GTM? Well, they are mollys, so I guess that's a good place.

Yeah, you're right. I figured are they guppies or are they mollies, but the name says it all. I really can't wait to see one. You're going to order some, right - when they're back in stock I mean?

Yes, hopefully. I check the site every few days to see if they have restocked...

It is a man made hybrid of one of the sailfin mollies.

The fish this is derived from, is native to the Atlantic coast of the US from North Carloina down Florida and around the Gulf to Mexico.

It most likely is a hybrid of Poecilia latipinna and Poecilia mexicana.

Though related to the guppy, I doubt it is a molly/guppy hybrid.

Thanks Dino!

On the site, they have it listed as Scientific Name: POECILIA LATIPINNA but that's all is says....

Pffff. They call everything latipinna these days, it's really annoying. It should at least be P. latipinna something, you know what I mean? Argh, frustrated zoologist, here.

If you do wind up getting them, make sure you give them lots of vegetable matter.
With their intestines scrunched up like that, they are prone to digestive problems.

Are you talking about the digestive system in the balloon variety or both?

Dino

The balloon body type is prone to problems.
All molly species need their diets to have lots of vegetable matter.

But are guppy-tailed mollies always balloon, then?

I don't think so, the site has them listed separately.

I got 2 guppy-tailed mollies (one black, one orange) 2 weeks ago, but the male died soon (my bad, I think) and the female died last Saturday...

The guppy tail molly at aquabid isn't a balloon molly. I don't think I like it. That big tail bends it's poor little back down. just my opinion of course.
