Guppy Mouths And Nibbles

All of this is something I'm curious about other opinions and answers for:
I have a reason for this...
first off is there a way to help a guppy that is "choking" (can't swallow nor spit out) on a piece of a pea with out accidentally killing it?

I got some Omega One colour enhancement pellets but they are too big for the vast ratio of guppies I own. I do have a mortar and pestle but it was tricky to grind them... Like I mean as hard as it was to grind worms and flakes in a glass tea candle holder with a polished rock.

(Don't get off track if you answer this one question) Is it ok to feed guppies a strawberry? You guys can answer this but... In my attempts with feeding them the parts of the strawberry I didn't eat they did like it and for some reason were more keen on getting the seeds.

How do I get my guppies to start eating cucumber? I tried it and only the snails and my betta ate it...

Who has hand fed guppies or stuck their entire hand in the tank? I have but weird question have they truly bitten?
Do your guppies like peas or bloodworms? Do you hand feed it to them? Have you hand fed them an algae wafer? Have your guppies approached the front of the tank begging for food? How excited are your guppies when they receive food or eating?

I'm aware this is weird but if you want leave your answers or silly/serious food related guppy questions or experiences when it come to this here I guess...

If your looking for something fun and relatively easy to feed guppies mine go crazy for micro worms. Mine don't like cucumbers either.

I don't know how to help your choking guppy. That must be so hard to watch.

My guppies don't like cucumbers, either, but I keep trying. I'm going to try pureeing them and then freezing them into pellets that I can then drop into the tank next.

They do like pealed grapes and mushed up boiled carrot. They definitely like algae wafers, but the problem I have with those is that once the snails get to it they cover it so completely that the poor fish can't get through that wall of shells to get their share. LOL

My guppies love peas. I thaw an individual pea in the microwave, remove the 'skin', and drop in 1/4 of the pea. My guppies are usually excited when fed. To my experience, they do come up front to 'beg' for food.
When I have my whole hand in the tank to do maintenance, occasionally some guppies will try to 'eat' my hand, but they merely tickle.

I have never tried this, but the only way I can think of to possibly help your guppy is to either carefully grab the pea with tweezers, or to hope the pea softens up on its own.

Just some info : Fish can't choke unless they can't move their mouth at all. They breathe through their gills, so breathing won't be an issue unless something is caught in their gills. The problem would be if they can't move their mouth to eat and they may starve to death.

The fry was quote on quote "choking" dunno a word for the event other than that. That guppy died while I was trying to help her spit it out, in the process I killed her accidentally.

Yeah, in this case, you should just let nature take its course. If it swallowed it, that's great, but if it didn't and it fatally choked, well such as nature. You trying to free the food from its mouth just killed it, but that's trial and error. Next time, I would just let it be.

(Revisiting this topic because why not)
Attempting stupid feedings. I fed them a strawberry top most were interested in it, I only kept it in there for a short amount of time.
I fed them algae wafers recently they don't like to eat it from the bottom or from my pinched fingers. Held my hand out flat and had like 20 guppies swarming above my hand. One juvenile male decided to try and eat a freckle on my hand.
The females seem to be able to eat the colour enhancement pellets and some betta pellets.

Have you tried boiling any veggies, mushing them up, and putting the results on a small glass tray? It can be fun to experiment on things they like to eat. There are plenty of suggestions here in the forum on veggies to try.
