Guppy Is Pregnant And Now She Started Facing Her Head Down

Please help my guppy is pregnant and she was fine but now she is facing her head down

What seems to be the problem

She has had fry before

I just went through this with my guppy, Big Momma. It went on for five days. One person asked if she might be giving birth but I’d never had one go so long. Others thought it might be Camallanus Worms. Then all of a sudden she’s swimming fine and eating. Then hubby tells me we have new bbs. I can’t see your guppy. Here are a couple pics of mine. I just knew she was going to die!

From the second picture I see some white stringy poo which is generally a sign of something wrong health wise. It is possible that the combination of disease and the pregnancy but some pressure on the swim bladder that was released. Are you sure that big momma was the mother? From time to time I find babies in my tank and I don't always know who the mom is! Just be on the lookout for other signs of parasites. The only way I know for sure to tell if it is camallanus worm is to see the little red worms coming from the back of the fish.

Yes it was definitely her. No one else is that far along. Nobody has any little red worms. Nobody has anything except the danio and I haven’t found a cure for his attitude yet. But seriously, she is too old to be having bbs. I’m going to separate the boys from the girls. Once my 40L cycles, I’ll be getting a couple more danios so he won’t be alone.
But, yeah, she’s back to her old self. I have ordered levamisole just in case. Thank you

Have you noticed anything else strange? White stringy poop, or is she backed up?
Are the water parameters good?

 

Everything is good

She looks very uncomfortable

And the only strange thing for me is this when she gave birth previously she never did this she had 40 fry and all was good and second time she had more fry but I could only save 15 fry

 

Maybe, though I don't know for sure, the batch of fry is pressing on her swim bladder, though this is only a guess. Hopefully if we wait and see, things will turn out well!

I've never seen this happen in my guppies but I have heard it isn't an uncommon factor of pregnancy.

Keep a close eye on her behaviour such as if she eats and what her poop is like but I think she will be ok

I’m so sorry she died. I believe mine is just too old to be giving birth. She’s doing well though. Loves her peas! I hope your other girly continues to thrive and be happy. Love guppies! Take care and keep coming back. Let us know how they get on from time to time.
