;DHello there,

I was wondering a few how's and when's about young guppy fry:

How old/big do they have to be before they can be let into the tank with the other fish?
How and when can you tell what sex they are?
When do their colour start to show?

Also is there a good site with info to read about bringing up guppy fry?

Hope you can help

Thanks Luke. ;D

Re: how's and when's

Since I don't separate my guppy fry from the parents I can't really say when to put them back I I really don't have a problem with them eating them.
Their color starts showing up pretty good by four weeks and they can be sexed by then also. At the top of the breeding forum is a sticky titled "sexing live bearers" inside are pictures to show you what your looking for. The pictures aren't guppies but all livebearers are sexed the same way.
See if you have a local aquarium club, they can probably help you with any guppy questions that we can't answer for you.
also the American Livebearers Association at https://www.livebearers.org/ should be able to answer any questions you have.

I might not be a great help, since I' more of an endler breeder, but I do not separate them at all.I have a few plants and a lot of wood. They serve as parent-proof hideouts for the fry.

Yep I don't separate my Guppys or Endlers fry from parents. Good to see another Endler owner here

One website is aquariumhobbyists.com/guppies/fry.html I separated my guppies from the other fish. It depends when you can place them with other fish. If the other fish have small mouths like neon tetras or cory catfish, then you can put them with them when they are about 1.5 cm. If the other fishes have big mouths then put them together when they are full grown. It depends how fast they grow and what fish are in the other tank.

I have a 5 gallon tank with 2 males and 2 females , I don't plan to separate the fry. I have plants for them to hide. Even if the adults eat them how much they can eat.
