Hey guys , this guppy of mine has been acting kind of strange , it floats on the top and the fins are closed and its swimming abnormally ,

I put it in another tank and put a little anti itch which kills the parasite .

Am I doing everything right ?

This is my first week of aquarium

Please tell us more about your tank.

Is it cycled or are you doing a fish in cycle.

How big is it?

Are there other fish? How many? What kind?

Have you checked your water chemistry? What are the readings?

More information is critical to working out what the problem is.

Okay, that isn't a tank, it's a fish bowl and I'm counting 7 fish in it. (edit missed your inventory reply. 9 fish, then.) It holds about 2 1/2 gallons of water.

There is no active filtration, not even from live plants.

I am guessing from your reply that you change the water once a week?

When you change the water are you using any sort of chemical neutralizer like Prime?

It appears you have a several issues in play starting with inappropriate housing for your fish. The likely reason your guppy is acting off is ammonia poisoning from overstocking and lack of filtration in an uncycled environment.

My advice would be to read up on the nitrogen cycle and also all the stickied posts at the top of the page about getting started.

I would then suggest that you purchase a fish tank of at least 20 gallons (29 gallons are popular sized kits and contain everything except plants, substrate and water) and immediately move your fish into and do a fish in cycle.

Please don't take any of this as a rebuke, lots of people have started out this way, but for the health of your fish, you need to upgrade, STAT.
