So I'm breeding guppies in a planted tank fake and live plants plenty of hiding spots. And the parents seem ferocious it's very hard to feed the guppy fry and they also eat them.. the females will even swim into the moss to eat them and steal there food I drop in the moss.. the adults are well fed also I feed them twice s day.. I do not have a spare tank to grow out the fry the plan was to colony breed them I just woke up to a batch of fry this morning

The guppy fry should be able to pick off the moss and live plants for food, which they'll also hide in to avoid the adult guppies. It's ok if the adults get to some of the fry; in a couple months, you'll have lots to take care of.

I hate the stuff, but our guppy fry had the best luck hiding in duckweed floating on the top of the tank. The parents couldn't really see them there.

What are you feeding the guppies?

Parents eating their fry is sad but necessary in order to keep your population to explode before you can blink once. I used to keep my fry in with the adults but I did always keep the tank heavily planted so that the adults can eat some babies to help with population but some will always survive due to the plants they could hide in. Contrary to what some may say I find that duck weed is absolutely amazing. It grows fast, is little to no maintenance, fry naturally swim up after birth do the duckweed provides optimal hiding places. I also found if it gets a little out of control you can sell some. It won't make a mad profit but a little extra change always helps in the hobby.

I personally am starting up guppy breeding once more with red dumbo dragon guppies, I'm planting their tank with duck weed and anubias as well as provide artificial hiding places. Might add more plants but those two were for sure as ive found they are so easy for me to keep alive!

guppies redproduce every 28 days or so as sad as it sounds if the parents eat a few of the fry its actually better for you. If you save every single fry you would have your tank over run by guppies in a blink of an eye

its great because you can attach it to the outside of the tank and water goes in the box through one side and out the box into the tank through the other side, so its not your regular breeder box inside the tank. Its almost like a separate minI tank

I'm looking for more of a breeding basket type box because that one requires additional air tubing and stuff

the airtubing and pump is very cheap as well. You can alway go with the breeding boxes inside the tank but in my opinion they take up space inside the tank, cleaning it is a pain (especially the net ones) and I think they look ugly inside a tank lol but that's just me, of course everyone is different, you get what works best for you
