Guppy Fry Different Sizes

These guppies are from the same brood. Why are they so different in size? Both seem perfectly healthy. Is this normal for some to grow faster than others?

I am curious about this too. I have the same thing going on with some molly fry.

I've never raised guppies to adulthood, but for platys, the females are drastically bigger than the males at an early age. My female is still way bigger than her brother even though they're a year old. I'm assuming it's the same for guppies.

EDIT: And mollies apparently, lol

Also.....I recently found one baby being viciously chased by mom and managed to scoop him up. ( I would assume she ate the others ) How long can you keep them in a baby box up top?

I can't answer this one. I've never used a breeder type box. I transferred all I could catch over to a 5 gallon grow out tank and then over to a 10 gallon after they got a bit bigger.

There are still 2 fry in my 55 gallon. They are only 1/2 inch long but are out swimming with the big guys now. There were many more in there but they eventually because fish food. Thus is life in the fish world.

I did take momma molly out of that tank because I didn't want to have to go through catching fry again and didn't want anymore surviving and growing up in there since I am already fully stocked. I do wish I could catch the 2 survivors but they are too quick and I don't want to stress out my other fish trying to catch these 2.

I have more baby "cover" now. I probably will just let him out when mom gets some food.

Depends on how old the baby is. Once he's 1/2 inch or so he should be fine in the main tank.

If your tank has hiding places he'll probably be able to survive. I have tons of tiny fry in my betta sorority, and even the bettas aren't aggressive or fast enough to actually catch them.

It's normal. They all develop differently. Some will grow faster than the others. Some will gain color before the others. I believe it's because some will eat more than the others. But males are usually smaller than females. So they'll stop growing while females will keep growing
