Just watch for ammonia and nitrite spike then. There is a decent chance it'll be ok, but it's better to be on the lookout so you can take appropriate action if a spike does occur.

No chance the impeller just got jammed in the emperor? Something a little cleaning in the impeller housing wouldn't fix?

The tank is staying perfect actually I revamped it and added some live plants so that should probably help. And I did try cleaning the filter, I've fooled with emperors lot, this one was really old, sometimes its just their time.
Sorry I didn't reply to this for a while, but I actually thought about it because you were such a great help toosie I wanted to see if you knew anything about what could be the issue with a pearlcale goldfish I posted about, do you mind taking a look?
