Guppy Chasing And Attacking Other

So I have had a single male guppy by itself in 10 Gallon tank for two weeks, and I have just gotten two more, and the single guppy was chasing and attacking both of them. I am a bit worried this is stressing the new fish out, and I have no quarantine tank. They are all males btw. Anything I should do?

 

Hey neonix, I'm no expert on guppies, however I do know that guppies are best kept in decent size groups as it is normal for them to show some aggression to one another. Having a few more allows not one single fish to be singled out as it diverts the attention of the aggressor onto another fish, not only that they will feel more comfortable and settle into the tank faster. Also maybe a few more hiding spots? Just some suggestions, however you do what you thinks best.

 

Thanks for the reply! I am probably going to get more to spread out the aggression, but just got two today so I would have to wait a week. I have quite a few hiding spots, but they don’t seem like they are trying to hide... is this a good sign? Maybe I could get a divider for now?

 

A divider is definitely an option. You could also possibly try removing the aggressive guppy from the tank and changing around the decorations slightly while keeping the other two in there as when you introduce him back into the tank he won't see it as his territory possibly and settle down, however this may stress the other two. You could also try turning the lights off on the tank so the guppies will hopefully go to sleep allowing them all to rest and settle into their new home.
