Guppy Bullies

I have a male bully guppy as well. He has been driving my lyretail molly crazy. He will not leave her alone. I went and bought 3 female guppies for him hoping that would hold his interest but he only has eyes for the molly. I put him in time out for a few hours and it helped for about a day. Now he is right back at her. I did not even want the 3 female guppies! I just got the females yesterday. Do you think it will just take sometime for them to catch his eye?

I have 2 guppies in a fully stocked 20 gallon and they started fighting, I can't get more and I can't get rid of any can I put one in a breeder and let them chill out with each other?

HI, welcome to fishlore.

You can separate them, but I doubt that will help any, once they are released again they will most likely still be bothering each other,

what type of "fighting" are they doing? are they nipping each other? do you have females in the tank?

No femalse but the smalle orange one is chasing the big blue one like he is mating(my parents bred a few guppies once)

If the chasing/aggression doesn't stop, I'd rehome one of them. Keeping one in a breeder is just going to stress him out and would only be a temporary solution. Why exactly can't you get rid of any though?

How long have you had them? Did they just recently start fighting? Can you post pictures of both to make sure they're both males?

I doubt more fish would change anything. Most LFS take fish donations and you could always post on craigslist.

My mother is attached to the fish so he can't go I put him in a breeder and the other guppie won't leave his side and when he does they both look sad and less active

Unless you have another tank, I don't think you have many options. What else is in the tank?

Well I guess I never updated thus the fighting did stop after that but as of now they all died due to dropsy spreading like wildfire

Help! I have added three new platys two days ago, and one of the males in the all male guppy group has been bullying the large female platy. Do you think this will settle down? I have lots of hiding places for her so hopefully she won't get too stressed. She is about 1.5 inches and the guppy is less than an inch. I thought they were all calm? The platy does not fight back, she just goes back down and hides until he leaves. Thoughts?

Maybe your guppy is trying to mate with your platy this happens between live breeders if you can separate the guppy from others for couple of days also rehoming is a good plan too

It seems more like bullying, do you think I could try removing him for a few days first? Or do you think they might settle down?

If you added them recently he is a, attempting to mate, or b astablishing a pecking order.

With live bearers the male will chase the female trying to get her to well, mate.
