Over the past three months, I have lost about five guppies after it seemed like their back half became paralyzed. They could only move by shaking the rest of their body and their tails seemed to become pointed instead of long and colorful like they used to be. The water parameters are all normal and i have a heater in the tank. Any idea of what it might be and how to get rid of it?

Sounds like fish TB. I'd say sterilize your tank ASAP because it is near fatal disease and can also affect humans
